A truly memorable occasion!
We celebrated in style, at St Cuthbert’s Church, our Founders’ Day in this, the 600th anniversary year of Bishop Bubwith’s bequest to build the first of the Wells almshouses.
The Dean of Wells, with the Director of Music organised a superb service, accompanied by members of the Vicars Choral of Wells Cathedral.
The Dean of Wells, the Very Reverand Toby Wright and the Vicar of St Cuthbert’s the Reverand Sam Denyer conducted the service, which appropriately ended with the popular and rousing Hymn “Jerusalem” by William Blake.
His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, the High Sheriff and the Mayor attended, along with trustees, residents and other friends.
Delicious Refreshments by Burns the Bread were enjoyed afterwards.
