Heritage Open Day
Despite the awful weather over 150 people came to visit the Almshouses as part of Heritage Open Days on the 9th September. Visitors had the opportunity to tour the gardens of the Llewellyn’s Almshouses and browse an exhibition on their history.
Across the road visitors could admire the wonderful secluded garden of the Bubwith Almshouse site. Inside the Bubwith chapel the local Wells ukulele band, Simply Uke, put on a fantastic performance. Homemade cakes and hot drinks, much needed after the rain, were available in the Guildroom where the local councillors met before the Town Hall was built.
A big thank you to all those who helped on the day including Sarah Villiers who was simply brilliant at getting people in off the street and to all the wonderful residents who made delicious cakes and savouries and helped out throughout the day.
